New Young Pony Club
New Young Pony Club is a four piece eighties-influenced punk-dance band from London that formed in 2004. Consisting of lead singer Tahita Bulmer alongside Andy Spence, Lou Hayter and Sarah Jones, the group released a number of independent singles before being discovered by Australian label Modular Records and signing a worldwide deal.
Their debut album Fantastic Playroom was released in Summer 2007, and despite not having a massive radio hit, attracted strong critical acclaim, eventually leading to a Mercury Music Award nomination. Refusing to let their sound be pigeonholed, their diverse array of sounds attracted a legion of fans, with Bulmer stressing that "We marry the dance ethic with the pop ethic, and make something that you can dance to and sing along to".
After a long period locked away in the studio, it was announced that sophomore album ‘The Optimist’ would be released in Spring 2010, with a number of live dates to support it
